The Poconos in Pennsylvania offers a delightful setting for equestrian endeavors. Located a short distance from New Jersey and New York City, this area provides the horse enthusiast an easy commuting distance of the major metropolitan areas. Numerous state gamelands are available for trail riding which makes this area a gem for endurance riders. The late endurance legend Maggie Price, lived in the heart of the Poconos for a good portion of her life. Many active stables offering riding lessons, horse sales, etc. can be found throughout the area such as Double Eagle Horse Farm in Saylorsburg and Bit-by-Bit Equestrian Center in Wind Gap.
